Paul Tandy - blind wrestler

While exciting visuals bring great sports stories to life, Paul Tandy inspires with his own athletic excellence…with no visual whatsoever. Tandy, blind from birth, hasn’t let that disability stop him from scoring top marks in a mainstream school or play a number of musical instruments. And it hasn’t even kept him off the sports field…

  • “Paul’s insight has helped him fit in outside of the gym as well. ‘People in high school are really shallow about how others look.  I think it’s a real big advantage for me to not have to have that because I can see people for who they really are’.”
  • “Paul has discovered some advantages to his disability. ‘ A wrestler who is looking can be faked out by an opponent, whereas Paul follows the body movements.  He follows the head and the hips.  And hips don’t lie.’”
