A year ago today Taliban extremists plumbed their already world renowned cowardice to new lows by trying to murder a schoolgirl who blogged in support of education for women. Thank God she recovered (note to terrorists on whose side God appears to be on in this case) and in July gave an eloquent address to the United Nations Youth Assembly. The headlines from that speech were “Being shot by Taliban made me stronger” and her words say it with the power of a thousand fighters…

Dear friends, on the 9th of October, 2012, the Taliban shot me on the left side of my forehead. They shot my friends too. They thought that the bullets would silence us, but they failed…Terrorists thought that they would change my aims and stop my ambitions, but nothing changed in my life except this — weakness, fear and hopelessness died, strength, power and courage was born."
