Fail It book

  • “Whether planned or unplanned, mistakes force us to take a closer look – they catch our attention in a sea of bland excellence.” – Erik Kessels

If you search for “books on failure” on Amazon, you get several hundred responses. The subject has become well covered in the two decades that I have been exploring it here). I’ve even called out a couple dozen books on the topic in previous posts. But one of my favs is Eric Kessels’ “Failed it!: How to turn mistakes into ideas and other advice for successfully screwing up” (thanks Isley). I applaud it for its comprehensiveness while at the same time being quite concise.

The book is sort of an all-star collection of failure quotes and observations. Many of the perspectives that I have shared in countless posts here, but distilled into terse and punchy presentation. Also, a big portion of the book is photography portraying different concepts which add to the ease and enjoyment of reading it. And it includes a bit of whimsical “failure” in its very layout.

The book includes five sections:

  • The Epic Fail
  • The Happy Failure
  • Fail to Follow the Rules
  • Fail to Find Inspiration
  • All Hail the Fail
